Two Ashland City men in the cab of a pickup truck died April 1 after the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof in a creek, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The bodies of Robert Reed, 38, and Jason Shoulders, 41, were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office, the THP said in a preliminary report.
Whether the men died from drowning or injuries sustained in the rollover was to be determined.
The accident occurred about 5:15 a.m. in the 1300 block of Turnipseed Road near Highway 250 about 10 miles west of downtown Ashland City.
Weather did not play a role in the crash, according to the THP.
Reed was the driver of the 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 and Shoulders was the passenger. Reed was wearing a seatbelt and Shoulders was not, the THP said.
The men were traveling east on Turnipseed Road and ran off the roadway on the right, the THP said in the preliminary report.
The roadside edge “began to become steep,” causing the vehicle to overturn in the direction of the passenger side, the report said.
No other vehicles were involved, the report said.
