“You have to tip your cap to Cheatham, they really fought hard and played well all evening,” Heritage coach Carl Miller said. “We’ve had one real issue all season and that was consistency, and tonight we just really weren’t consistent out there. Cheatham out-hustled us on a few rebounds, and we played with a lack of energy.”
The Patriots finished their regular season 13-14 overall, but they hold an 8-4 record in District 9-AA Heritage will travel to Cheatham County to face the Cubs in the district tournament on Thursday, Feb. 20.
“There (are) times where we play really, really well and there are other times where we seem to struggle with decision making and things like that,” Miller said. “This is a fairly young team, but if we can find some consistency in the tournament, we’ve got a chance.”
The Lady Patriots took an early lead over Cheatham as their defense held the Lady Cubs to only six points in the first quarter. Going into halftime, Heritage led 18-17. The Lady Patriots continued their strong play into the third quarter, taking a 26-22 lead into the final frame.
