KINGSTON SPRINGS – The Harpeth Lady Indians, led by 14 points from Lexi Hear and 13 from Jessi Knall, got out to an early lead and never let up, Greenbrier 47-34 on Tuesday, Jan. 28. 

In the boys game, Greenbrier senior Carter Preston powered the Bobcats to a 41-37 victory over the Indians. Preston finished with 11 points.

The Lady Indians, who are now 6-13 and fifth in District 9-AA, had one of their better games of the season as they pushed out to a 15-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, Harpeth led 22-13. 

In the third quarter, Greenbrier went on a run to close the gap, but it wasn’t enough. Harpeth held on to a 30-23 advantage after three quarters and finished the win with 17 points in the final frame. 

The Greenbrier girls moved to 9-14 (1-8 District 9-AA). Emma Disney led the Lady Bobcats with 10 points. 

The boys game came down to the wire as Greenbrier, which had not led at the end of the first three quarters, was able to come back and tie the game in the first minute of the fourth. 

Harpeth led 12-2 at the end of the first quarter and held a 24-17 lead at halftime. The Indians were still up 30-28 at the end of the third, but that advantage evaporated just minutes later. 

Along with Preston, Greenbrier senior Tristan Eakes finished in double figures with 10 points. Grayson Maddox carried Harpeth with 13 points. 

Greenbrier is now 13-9 overall and 5-4 in District 9-AA. Harpeth fell to 7-12 and 4-4 in district play.
