William Maydell Johnson

William Maydell Johnson, known by many as “Bill” or “Willie,” age 94 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 1:00PM on Friday, July 23, with his daughter, Rev. Donna LaRue Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View United Methodist Church Cemetery with Michael Wayne Dunn, William Ray Dunn, Ronnie Balthrop, Arnold Allen, and Wayne Head serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8PM and again on Friday from 11:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.

Mr. Johnson was born on November 29, 1926 in Cheatham County, Tennessee to the late Turner & Emma Johnson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He was retired after 25 years with Genesco, also working for Acme Boot and most recently retiring for health reasons at Tony’s Foodland as the breadman. Mr. Johnson loved to work in his garden and loved to go dancing at the Senior Citizen Center. He was a Christian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Nancy Sue Hinkle; daughters, Nancy Kay Milburn, Jackie Grace Searles; and five brothers & sisters.

Survivors include his daughters, Rev. Donna LaRue Johnson and Linda Cheryl Lawrence; five grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
