Mary Ann Hughes Gupton, 73, passed away at The Waters of Cheatham on Feb. 4, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Springfield, TN, to the late Albert Gallatin Hughes and Minnie Lee Koonce Hughes.
She attended Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and worked for 23 years as a paper carrier as well as a janitor for the Cheatham County School System for 13 years. Everyone that knew Mary had a Mary story and her infectious personality will be greatly missed by all who share in her loss.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Lee Hughes.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Terry Gupton; children, Carol Canada and Dennis (Laura) Gupton; brothers, Albert Gallatin (Sharon) Hughes, Jr, and Ralph Hughes; sister, Helen Shipley; four grandchildren, Scarlett Canada, Geoffrey Canada, Peyton Gupton, and Kaleb Gupton; and her four-legged apple of her eye, Hank.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, in the Chapel of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with Brother Barry Raper and Terry Forrest officiating. Burial will follow in Neptune Smith Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from noon until the service hour of 2 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Peyton Gupton, Kaleb Gupton, Geoffrey Canada, John Granato, Robert Granato, and Shane Jackson.
