Donald Joseph DeGeare, age 81 of Pleasant View, TN, died Friday, July 5, 2019 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Corey Minter and Bro. Tom Malone, and Craig Beecher officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery with military honors. Serving as pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary pallbearers were any military veterans (past or present), and Harris Bunch.
The family received friends at the church on Tuesday, July 9, beginning at 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. There was no visitation at the funeral home.
Mr. DeGeare was born on June 21, 1938 in Ottawa, Illinois to Anne Yednock and the late Joseph DeGeare. He was retired from the United States Army with the rank of Master Sergeant (MSG) and was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded many medals and awards including the Silver and Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart. After retiring from the Army, he was employed by and retired from the State of Tennessee, working in Information Technology.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rhonda DeGeare; sons, Donald, Jr., Mike, Joe, and Andre DeGeare; daughter, Vicky Hall; step-sons, Brandon (Deena) Beecher, and Craig (Mallory) Beecher; brother, Ronnie (Judy) DeGeare; niece, Kim; and numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
