Carl Willis Spurlock, Jr., age 49 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View, Friday, September 27, at 6 p.m. with Bro. Leonard Carpenter officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Little, Ron Radcliffe, John Jolley, Mike Brown, Brian Leech, Glen Marcum, Tim Whitworth, and Bubba Jones.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville, TN 37221.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, September 27, from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at 6 p.m.
Carl was born on March 13, 1970 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Carl W., Sr. and Henrietta Saylor Spurlock. He was retired from the United States Army with 21 years of service with the rank of 1st Sgt., and was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was currently employed at TransCor America in Nashville. He enjoyed youth sports and had served as a coach in PVYBA Panthers basketball, PVAA Dixie Youth Baseball and the Sycamore Knights football. He was a member of the Joelton First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Melinda, Carlene, and Gail.
Carl is survived by his wife, Tracy Spurlock; sons, Kyle and Jarrett Spurlock; daughter, Hannah Spurlock; brother, J D (Diane) Saylor; parents-in-law, Clyde (Angie) Little and Verda (Leonard) Carpenter; special brother-in-law, Charlie Little; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the education fund of Carl’s three children. Please make checks payable to Tracy Spurlock and may be mailed in care of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View.
