Kerry Roberts

State Sen. Kerry Roberts, whose district includes Cheatham County, is expected to make a full recovery from an aneurysm he suffered last Friday, Senate Republican Caucus Press Secretary Darlene Schlicher said.

“Senator Roberts is recovering very well and is in good spirits,” Schlicher said in an email Tuesday. “While this condition can be fatal, he is expected to have a full recovery.

“He will remain in the hospital for the next week or more for observation and rest. He has expressed his deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks for the many people who have offered prayers and concerns.”

Lt. Gov. Randy McNally announced last Friday that the Springfield Republican was hospitalized that day, saying Roberts was stable and alert.

The next day, Schlicher said Roberts was resting comfortably and that the Roberts family “is very grateful for the excellent care that he has received from first responders and hospital staff,” as well for the outpouring of support.

The state senate seat held by Roberts is not up for election this year. His district includes Dickson, Hickman, Humphreys and Robertson counties as well as Cheatham.

Roberts chairs the Senate Government Operations Committee, according to the Tennessee General Assembly’s website. He is a member of the chamber’s Judiciary Committee and sits on two subcommittees.
