State Sen. Kerry Roberts, whose district includes Cheatham County, was released from Skyline Medical Center on Monday afternoon and is now at home, Darlene Schlicher, press secretary for the Senate Republican Caucus, said in an email.

Although Roberts will be on bed rest during the upcoming days, his medical team continues to anticipate a full recovery from the brain hemorrhage he had on Oct. 9.

An email last week from Schlicher said Roberts was in a neuro intensive care unit and was experiencing vasospasms, placing him at risk for a stroke and requiring him to be under careful monitoring.

Last Wednesday marked the first day of significant decline in vasospasms, she said.

A statement from Roberts said was included in the email last week: “I am very thankful for all of the prayers, calls, cards and texts from those who have expressed their concerns. Due to the severity of headaches, I have not been able to take phone calls, text messages and emails, except to communicate with family members who are not able to visit because of COVID-19 protocols. I have been touched by so many kind messages and look forward to responding soon.”

The Senate seat held by Roberts is not up for election this year. His district includes Dickson, Hickman, Humphreys and Robertson counties as well as Cheatham.

Roberts chairs the Senate Government Operations Committee, according to the Tennessee General Assembly’s website. He is a member of the chamber’s Judiciary Committee and sits on two subcommittees.
