Although the Town of Pegram Board of Mayor and Alderman unanimously passed the 2020-2021 budget at its June 29 meeting, Vice Mayor Bill Herbert said amendments for paving, specifically on Riverview, must be added later.
Herbert ran the meeting because Mayor Charles Morehead was out of town. He said paving has been interrupted because of bad weather and that prep work has been restarted. Because the work interruption occurred at the end of the fiscal year, the budget will require changes, Herbert said.
The board approved extension of the fire tax contract with the county for one year beginning July 1; approved the Junior Pro Football contract for 2020; approved moving the Little League deposit for this year’s season to next year’s season because this year’s season was cancelled by COVID-19; and accepted the bid for painting City Hall and the Fire Hall to Weiss Painting, LLC for $16,500.
The Town of Pegram Beer Board approved the beer permit application for Joe Freeman at Finch’s Country Store on 436 Highway 40, pending receipt of the lease.
In the Town of Pegram sewer board meeting, Herbert referenced the report from Jim Stinnett that said the plant is operating fine. In the report Stinnett noted that he is working to determine the reason for excessive wetness in the middle section of the drip field.
The next meeting of the Pegram Board of Mayor and Aldermen is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, July 27.
