Trailer fire

The Kingston Springs Board of Zoning Appeals is allowing residents of a Saunders Lane home to live in their large travel trailer on the property for six months after a fire recently damaged their home. SEAN BARRY

The Kingston Springs Board of Zoning Appeals voted to allow residents displaced by a house fire to live in a travel trailer on their property for up to six months.

The board voted 3-0 to grant a zoning variance, sought by town staff on behalf of the residents. The variance allows the residents to occupy the trailer next to their home at 563 Saunders Lane.

The July 24 vote requires that the residents get connections to electricity, as well as public water and sewer lines. A generator was temporarily installed.

The board didn’t identify the residents of the home, and no information was available from the Kingston Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
