The Pleasant View Planning Commission unanimously approved an application for subdivision of property into three lots named Pleasant View Mid-Town located at 6509 Highway 41A at its Feb. 26 meeting.

The property is owned by Ashland City Properties LLC, with Kendall Felts as the owner-agent.

The three lots are next to Children’s Dental Health Center of Pleasant View for a total of 8.9 acres.

“Now it’s a four-lot subdivision,” Pleasant View Building Commissioner Mark Goins said. “In 2011, there was a plat that was approved by the planning commission creating what is now Lot 4. That plat was never recorded even though it was approved by the planning commission.”

Among the items in the design are two easements, with the access easement from the main road leading to a parking lot structure. The easement will be 24 feet rather than 50 feet and will run across the back of Lot 3.

The commissioners also discussed amendments to the site plan for the new Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department building to add a floor drain oil separator as well as sidewalk parking on Main Street.

“They want to do some off-street parking in front of the old fire hall building,” Goins said. “They want to do parallel parking and do a sidewalk running behind it. My only concern was I didn’t want to have parking too close to where the bay doors are in the new building.”

The existing fire station on Main Street will be turned into a museum which will feature items that are part of the history and growth of the department which was founded in 1970.

The planning for the new station started 16 years ago; construction started in May of 2018, with the projected completion date for June or July.
