Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a call from a resident, who has not been identified, on Valley View Road in Joelton last Monday about suspicious materials found in the resident’s mailbox.
According to Cheatham County Emergency Management Agency Director and Fire Chief Edwin Hogan, the mailbox contained the pins and inner tubing of two hand grenades, which were wrapped in cellophane.
Hogan said the resident found the items in his mailbox on Sunday but didn’t report them to law enforcement until Monday. The Ashland City Fire Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol Bomb Unit investigated the scene. The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office is working with The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on the case.
This is an ongoing investigation.
