An Ashland City man was arrested and charged with rape on July 29 after a 2018 incident that took place in a wooded area of Cheatham County, according to a police report.

Jonathan Luna, 30, met the 20-year-old female accuser through an online dating site in August 2018, according to the Cheatham County sheriff’s office report.

The woman told deputies that she and Luna had met for the first time at a restaurant on a Saturday night and then met again the following day, when the incident allegedly took place.

After spending time together at a park in Nashville, Luna suggested going to a spot he frequents in Cheatham County, according to the report. This is where the rape took place, according to the report.

Deputies noted that the cul-de-sac the woman described sounded like one off of Apache Trail.

“Luna has been known to frequent that area and has been arrested there previously,” according to the report.

Luna was also charged with violating the terms of his probation, according to court records. The day of the rape, he told the woman “as long as he didn’t get another domestic or sexual assault charge, he should be fine,” according to the report.

After the assault, the woman informed her family about what happened, reported it to police and received a doctor’s examination.

Luna was transferred to a federal prison last Friday, according to the sheriff’s office. He is scheduled to appear in a Cheatham County court on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
