Because of coronavirus concerns, the Cheatham County Public Library at in Ashland City and South Cheatham County Public Library in Kingston Springs are closed.

“We hope to reopen when school starts again (April 6),” South Cheatham Library Director Janet Walker said.   “All county departments are now closed to the public, and the county will be sterilizing all buildings.”

Cheatham County Public Library Director May Lingner said that all overdue fines have been waived during the closure at both libraries.

“Cheatham and South Cheatham Libraries have come up with ways for anyone to have free access to e-books and audio books, even if you don't have a library card,” Lingner said. “Both libraries have added links to these resources to their websites.”

Both library directors said were surprised by the number of patrons that had been showing up in the morning.

“I’m shocked at how many people had been coming through,” said Walker. “We had a busier than average Monday on the 16th and we were also busy on Saturday, March 14,”
