A Cheatham County correctional deputy has been arrested after the sheriff’s office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation found he was bringing drugs into the jail and giving them to inmates, according to a news release from Sheriff Mike Breedlove.
Mason Carr, 22, was arrested late Tuesday and charged with introduction of drugs into a correctional facility, intent to sell and possession of a firearm during a felony.
The TBI and sheriff’s office began a joint investigation after receiving information about the drugs, according to the news release.
Carr, who has worked at the jail since 2017, is still in custody but was transported to an out-of-county jail for his protection, according to the news release. He will remain there until a bond hearing is set.
The TBI will lead the investigation.
