Firefighters are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire that extensively damaged an Ashland City apartment building under construction.

The fire in the uninhabited building on Highway 12 near Little Marrowbone Road was reported Jan. 9 shortly before midnight, the Ashland City Fire Department said on Facebook.

The sprinkler system for the building wasn’t yet functional, the department said. No injuries were reported.

The investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing as of Jan. 16, according to a member of the department. 

The Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Cheatham County Emergency Medical Service, and Cheatham County Emergency Management Agency responded to the blaze, the ACFD Facebook post said.
