An Ashland City man died after a car crash on Ed Harris Road.
David Mooningham, 27, was not wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle in which he was a passenger was heading west on Ed Harris Road during the afternoon of June 6, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report. While rounding a curve, the car slid off the road and ran into a tree. Mooningham was ejected from the car, according to the report.
After the crash, the vehicle caught fire and the passengers were trapped inside, according to a release from the Ashland City Fire Department. They survived and were transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to the release.
The responding troopers’ report said that the use of safety restraints would have made a difference in the driver and passenger’s injuries.
