A dozen members of the Cheatham County Art League met with founding members Debbie Keenan and Nanette Malher at the Livery Stables/Coach House in Pleasant View recently for an update on the organization’s April 3 Spring Gala.
The meeting provided an assessment of the venue space for the event, plans for the event and details for artwork submissions.
Keenan said that invitations will be sent March 9 to more than 100 museum curators/owners within a 50-mile radius of Pleasant View. Interior decorators will also be invited. The invitations will include a note telling those who attend not to use GPS because it gives incorrect directions to the venue.
Keenan said that all artwork which requires hanging must be gallery wrapped or framed. All artwork must include a photo of the artwork, title, artist name, medium, size, weight and price or “not for sale.”
Pieces that will be accepted for the Spring Gala are paintings, photographs, sculptures, thrown pottery pieces, drawings, mixed media, fiber art and digital art.
Tickets to the event will cost $12 (of $15 at the door). There will be no entry fee for displaying artists.
“Prints will made available for purchase by guests for $25 with the proceeds going directly into the CCAL account,” Keenan said. “We can have the funds to do an art-reach program this summer for kids. We have to find ways to raise money for the Art League itself.”
