Cheatham Arts League

This artwork was created by Ti Rogers, one of the founders of the new Art League of Cheatham County.

Cheatham County Mayor Kerry McCarver had the desire to bring back a fine arts exhibition that was held in the county many years ago by the former Art Council.

“Since 2004, there has not been a public celebration of fine arts created by Cheatham County residents.  I would like to bring back this wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Arts,” McCarver said.

So, to answer his call, Ti Rogers, Debbie Keenan, Debbie Small, Beth Batson, Frank Luppe and Heather K. Wolfe teamed up to create the Art League of Cheatham County, a charitable and educational nonprofit organization that will raise awareness of the arts and artists in Cheatham County.

The organization’s first juried art show is scheduled for Sept. 27-28 and is open to all Cheatham County artists. The entry deadline is Sept. 10. Show details and an entry form is available at the group’s Facebook page or by emailing artleagueofcheathamcounty@gmail.com.

The fee is $25 per entry or $15 for Art League members. Annual memberships are $50 and allows members to show their work on the organization’s website.

A cash prize for first, second, and third place will be awarded.

There will also be an area at the first show for artwork by local students (ages 15 or younger).

Art League of Cheatham County co-founders are: McCarver, Johnny Lindahl and Lori Ray. Supporters are Amy Hill Geldner, Nanette Malher and Harold Lovell.
