Cheatham County’s high schools honor 2022 valedictorians, salutatorians

The Cheatham County School District is pleased to recognize the valedictorians and salutatorians at each of the county’s three public high schools from the Class of 2022.

Sycamore High School

Ranya Moreland, valedictorian

Ranya Moreland is the valedictorian of the Sycamore High School Class of 2022.

During her time at SHS, she has had the privilege of serving as senior class president, vice president of HOSA and treasurer of the National Honor Society. She has also been a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society and the Spanish Club.

Her favorite high school memory is when the senior class won the spirit stick during the

Homecoming pep rally.

Moreland has been accepted into the Grand Cook Honors Challenge at the Tickle College of Engineering at UT-Knoxville.

Keegan Bilodeau, salutatorian

Keegan Bilodeau is the salutatorian of the Sycamore High School Class of 2022.

Throughout his high school career, he was a part of the Tri-M Musical Honor Society, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Technology Student Association, Key Club, Youth Leadership Cheatham County, French Club, Student Council and the War Eagle band program.

Bilodeau was a two-time winner in coding and second place winner in video game design at the TSA state competition.

His favorite high school memory is his freshman year of band and the competitions, which were extremely fun, and the friends he made along the way who will forever be with him.

Bilodeau’s future plans include getting a master’s degree in computer science and either pursuing a job in the field or going for a doctorate and teaching at the college level.

Cheatham County Central High School

Kendall Odom, valedictorian

Kendall Odom is the valedictorian of the Cheatham County Central High School Class of 2022.

During her high school career, Odom has been a member of the HOSA Club, FFA Club, Beta Club and Best Buddies. She played volleyball all four years of high school, serving as a co-captain her senior year.

She will graduate with 17 college credit hours due to the dual enrollment classes that she has taken in high school and has received the TVA Power Play Scholarship.

Her favorite high school memory is all of the friendships she has made along the way, as well as all of the sports games she has attended.

In the fall, she plans to attend Nashville State Community College, where she will start on the track of its occupational therapy program. She then plans to transfer to Western Kentucky to further her studies. Her dream is to become an occupational therapist who works with special-needs kids.

Cooper Owen, salutatorian

Cooper Owen is the salutatorian of the Cheatham County Central High School Class of 2022.

While at CCCHS, Owen was involved with student government, Future Business Leaders of America, Beta Club, baseball and football. He received the Ralph Spangler Award and All-Region football honors. He represented CCCHS as the National Football Foundation’s student-athlete of the year.

His favorite memory was beating rival Sycamore High School and returning the Powder Keg to CCCHS in his senior season.

Owen plans to attend Vanderbilt in the fall and pursue a degree in economics with

hopes of working in corporate strategy and development.

Harpeth High School

Cheyenne Higgs, valedictorian

Cheyenne Higgs is the valedictorian of the Harpeth High School Class of 2022.

During her time at HHS, she played both soccer and softball for four years. She served as a co-captain of the soccer team and was named to the All-Tournament soccer team for three consecutive years. She also was a member of the National Honor Society for three years and served as the public-relations officer for one year.

Her favorite memories were winning regionals in soccer her sophomore year and going to prom with her friends.

Higgs plans to attend UT-Chattanooga and major in chemistry.

Mallary McKaskle, salutatorian

Mallary McKaskle is the salutatorian of the Harpeth High School Class of 2022.

At HHS, she was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, graduated from the Youth Leadership Cheatham County program, served as vice president of the National Honor Society and was class secretary. She also represented HHS at the Tennessee School Boards Association’s annual SCOPE conference, and she’s a member of the White Bluff Church of Christ youth group.

McKaskle ran track and cross country and placed fourth at the state track meet with the 4×800-meter relay team during her junior year.

Some of her favorite high school memories are hanging with her friends during senior week and running with her teammates at track and cross-country races.

She plans to attend Tennessee Tech and major in mechanical engineering.
