TN Achieves is recruiting volunteer mentors to provide a local support system to every TN Promise applicant in the Class of 2021. Mentors work with a small group of three to seven students as they transition from high school to college. Mentors complete a training course in person or online. Colby’s Army Third Annual Pasture Putt Putt Golf and Games will be held Aug. 29-30 from 4-8 p.m. each day at the learning center facility at 1394 George Boyd Rd. in Ashland City. Lawn games such as croquet, lawn bowling and corn hole will be available to play, as well as food for purchase and facility tours. Colby’s Army helps children and adults with life challenges such as autism, Down syndrome, homelessness, depression, anxiety, cerebral palsy, PTSD, and development delay. The Cheatham County Historical and Genealogical Association meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Cheatham County Public Library, 188 John E. Mayfield Dr. in Ashland City.
